OUR SCIENCE STUDENTS HAVE FALLEN APART.
Dear Olamide,
where is that vision you had when you sang “Boys are not smiling”? What was the motive of that song? or those things that motivated you to write that song? Where are they? Have they fallen apart like pack of cards? The youths supported you and no wonder you were named or you named yourself king of the street which no one could take away from you till date. Where are those dreams? Have they gone to the drain? I was just listening to the lyrics of the track “Boys Are Not Smiling” and remembered every thing you said and I thought of you having a vision with Terry Da Rapman before voicing it in the studio but now, the silence of the wind had became the architect of the misfortunes that lurks the entire youths …
I have been your follower right from day one of your music career, I love your style of rap. The street thing. I listened to Rapsody and every track was a boom. Every of the lyrics was powerful. I enjoyed every from the first album to the last you dropped in 2017. It was nice though in as much as the artistes we have in Nigeria nowadays literally release broken lyrics as lyrics for us, I still enjoyed it. Maybe because of the beat or maybe because of the love I had for your music. Or maybe, you talk more of street which bred many of us. Or maybe street has taken over.
But, what happened now? Could it be that money has blinded your eyes and sense of thinking? Or are we in the era of Musitics?
I listened to your last drop “Science Student” and I asked myself, what has gone wrong with music in Nigeria? Every youth in the street was expecting the condamination of drugs by you instead of that, they were disappointed by your encouragement of drug in the street. Which level nah?
Our science students have fallen apart and they are now inmate in the school.
