Hon. Anyogo Drums Support For C’River State University Bill
Member representing Yala 1 State Constituency and Deputy Chief Whip in Cross River State House of Assembly,Rt.Hon.Regina Leonard Anyogo has called for massive support for the passage of Cross River State University Bill,2019 into law.
Hon.Regina made the call during Tuesday plenary on the floor of the House.This all important bill is sponsored by the leader of the House and member representing Ogoja state Constituency,Rt.Hon.Peter Odey.The bill seeks to repeal the law that established Cross River State University of Technology(CRUTECH),thus change the nomenclature to reflect Cross River State University to accommodate more lucrative professional courses such as Medicine&Surgery, Nursing,Law, e tal and avoid lose of accreditation by National University Commission in the year 2020.
In her contribution during debate,Hon.Regina who is also the co-sponsor of the bill described it as ” very critical and timely”.She argued that when the bill is finally pass into law,it will attract TETFUND support for expansion of essential infrastructure from the federal government for teaching and learning,enhance visibility of the school,break new grounds in research and publication,ameliorate unemployment challenge,increase revenue generation,promote part time programme along side regular programmes and help in the reservation of quota for indigenes of the state.
After extensive debate by Honourable members,the speaker of the House,Rt.Hon. Eteng Jones Williams committed the bill to the House Committee on education to report back to the House in two weeks time.The House adjourned to Wednesday for plenary.
