
Ehime Mbano leading in infrastructure, agriculture – Nwaluka

Engr. Benedict Nwaluka, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman of Ehime Mbano local government area of Imo State, believes that the LGA is setting the pace in infrastructural development and agriculture.
Speaking to a delegation of the Imo PDP New Media Directorate in his office at the council headquarter in Umuezeala, recently, Nwaluka averred that his administration had embarked on speedy construction of the state government’s signature projects such as LGA secretariat and mini-stadium.
He revealed that his administration was set to commence the construction of several rural roads, as it will soon take delivery of a bulldozer, payloader, roller, grader and other equipments purchased by the committee for road construction in the LGA.
He said that since its inception in June 2019, his administration had revitalized and equipped health centres in the LGA for efficient healthcare delivery, and completed water projects.
The Chairman who said that he inherited a bushy council headquarter, stated that the committee has brought it back to life.
Nwaluka opined that his administration has recorded 100 percent compliance with the state government’s agricultural policies.
He enlisted some of his achievements in the agricultural sector to include the establishment of a poultry, fishery, pineapple orchard; plantain, banana, coconut, palm plantations.
The council boss revealed that over 2000 plantain suckers, 3000 pineapple suckers, and 1000 palm seedlings had been planted in the last two months.
He also stated that his administration had imported a number of hybrid coconuts to be planted.
The Chairman who expressed optimism that his administration’s agricultural initiative will increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the LGA, said it would also provide jobs for the teeming youth population in the council area.
Nwaluka said: “We are doing everything within our capacity to comply with the laudable agro-initiative of the rebuild Imo government led by our dear governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. The idea is to boost our productivity, increase our IGR and create jobs for our youths”.
When quizzed, Sydney Christian, the consultant in charge of the LGA’s poultry farm, said he expects to stock over 3000 pullets by January 2020.
