C’River: Sunny Omagu Declares Interest For Yala Chairmanship
Barely 24 hours after news broke out that the Cross River State Governor, Sir Ben Ayade will today announce his decision to conduct the long overdue local government elections, a US based business man and philanthropist, Amb Sunny Ogar Omagu has declared his interest to run for the Yala Local government chairmanship position under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Gov Ayade through his aides had announced his readiness to conduct Local Government elections in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Mr Omagu made his intentions known through his verified Facebook account “Sunny Ogar Omagu”.
See the text of the declaration below:
“DECLARATION OF MY INTEREST TO BE THE NEXT YALA LGA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN :
“My great people of yala 14 wards, after a resounding statement from the office of the state governor to conduct the local government election, I Sunday Igri Ogar, popularly known as Sunny Omagu, from Okpoma ward in yala LGA hereby declare that I am going to be running for the office of chairman of yala local government council.”
“My great people, there’s the need for a brand new style of leadership in our great local government area. There would be a crowded field with many candidates looking for a way to stand out and connect with voters to win the election, what should be voters duty? It is for you to make a decision that will move yala forward.”
“The neatness of the partisan method of selecting the ward to represent us as chairman of council so far in the past years have been remarkable. Okpoma ward has never been given the opportunity to represent yala as chairman of council, in God we trust that Okpoma ward will be considered this time.”
“Our local government area is in serious trouble, we don’t smile much anymore, to end this, we need a strong servant that can take our concerns to the state, federal, international and private sector for a solution. Sunny Omagu can do this for yala 14 wards.”
“When was the last time anyone of you saw yala leading in anything as a local government? Other local government are laughing at us, this is the time to end it, Sunny Omagu can end it.”
“Disunity is eating up large portion of yala local government, many are using this as an opportunity to become rich to the detriment of the masses, Sunny Omagu will end this by uniting yala to be people who love one another irrespective of party affiliation or tribe.”
‘Yala gross domestic product has been very low recently, it is because of lack of buyers, our children are going to school with difficulty because parents who are farmers can no longer sell farm products to train children. This is the time to increase our products and seek for market for our products. Sunny Omagu can do it.”
“Many of Our primary school has failed to produce children to be able to read and write upon graduation from primary school, we need a “no child left behind in reading and writing skills in primary schools “Sunny Omagu can change this.”
“There’s no society without good health care that can be a great society, our primary health care system is not giving us primary care enough, we don’t have to travel more than 5 kilometers to receive primary care. Sunny Omagu can change this.
I am not running to be a chairman of council for myself, but I am running to be chairman of council for my people.
When we are giving the opportunity to air out our manifesto, I will be glad to tell the public what I can do as a chairman if given the opportunity to work for you as your servant in the local level.”
It is expected that more interest will be declared for various elective positions at the third tier of government as the election calendar kick starts.
I will be hear to showcase the various candidates and their well thought out plans.
